If there were an America's Most Wanted for health problems, stress would be at the top of the list. The United Nations calls stress the 21st century health epidemic. Stress is a factor in five out of six of the leading causes of death which include heart disease, cancer, stroke, lower respiratory disease and accidents. An estimated 75% to 90% of all doctor visits are for stress. Clearly, stress is at unprecedented proportions in the U.S. and it doesn't appear to be lessening. 

Stressors in our environment, whether they result from illness, financial issues, and relationship problems or simply due to a traffic jam, first impact the human nervous system and then the body. The stress response prepares our body for fight or flight and in our society, with its numerous stressors, often causes us to experience stress on a chronic basis. The antidote is the Relaxation Response (RR). BodySound technology can produce a very potent RR.

The technology consists of amplified layered music played through transducers that generate synchronized sound and vibration as well as a strategically placed dynamic magnetic field affecting the central nervous system and the human energy system, respectively.

What is Fright or Flight and does it describe your walk in the world? 

The fight or flight response is our body's primitive, automatic, inborn response that prepares the body to "fight" or "flee" from perceived attack, harm or threat to our survival. Since the days of our early ancestors we have been endowed with a nervous system that has a built-in, hard-wired survival mechanism. With this mechanism we are always scanning our environment, consciously and subconsciously, for potential danger. The survival mechanism is supported primarily by three of our senses -  sight, hearing, and touch. While you’re in a BodySound session there is no need to worry about your survival because you are safe so it’s okay to turn this mechanism off or nearly so. We accomplish this by systematically turning off or habituating your senses of sight, hearing and touch. Reducing these sensory inputs to your survival mechanism deactivates or markedly reduces it, producing a brain state of inattention, so that you can relax.

So, how does the Bodysound Chaise work? 

Typically, when you go to sleep at night, you turn the lights off and close your eyes. When you sit in a Bodysound session we darken the room and instruct you to close your eyes and fall asleep. As a result your visual system will receive no stimulus. We play layered music during the session. Multiple melodies are played simultaneously so it is difficult for your brain to follow the music. This dramatically reduces or eliminates your desire to listen or attend to the music, while allowing you to feel all of the bass and midrange frequency content that the transducers turn into vibration.

The relatively constant sound and vibration cause the neural circuitry associated with hearing and touch to be far less responsive to the stimuli. As a result, these portions of the nervous system become less active. Turning off much of the circuitry related to sight, hearing and touch, which supports your survival mechanism causes you to become less vigilant or tense and as a result you drift toward sleep.

Your body goes to sleep, but your mind falls awake

What is interesting, however, is that two of the stimuli we provide, vibration and sound, which stimulate your senses of touch and hearing are the most effective at waking you up when these stimuli shift in intensity. As a result you will find over a few sessions that you float between sleep and reduced wakefulness. This process allows you to experience your sleeping or nearly asleep body. That’s exactly the state of consciousness that you want to achieve. In that state you feel extremely relaxed.

There is one more stimulus we provide that is exceedingly beneficial. We provide synchronized magnetic field stimulation to the person’s lower energy system including the root chakra, which is located at the base of the spine. The root chakra is an energetic structure that is associated with feelings of safety and security and your right to be present in your body. We have found that by stimulating this structure in this way there is an increase in spiritual energy flow. Those people who are able to feel their energy system can immediately feel the difference. Others can learn to feel their energy system with the use of this technology over time.

Greater spiritual presence within the body promotes greater feelings of relaxation
